Library of Memories Update

One of my goals for the summer was to fully implement the Library of Memories framework. I took a class from Stacy Julian this spring and LOVED every minute of it. I wasn't able to keep up with all of the assignments at the end thanks to the end of the school year. The system just makes sense for me and I wanted to get it all set up before school starts again.

I spent most of today working on getting all of my finished Layouts integrated into the system. For those of you who aren't scrapbookers, I basically wanted to get my finished pages organized into categories so I could find them when I wanted to and others could look at them in a logical way. I decided that I would leave any pages that I did on Creative Memories pages alone... for now. I don't want to have to figure out how to separate them just yet.

So I started by taking all of the layouts out of their current albums. As a side note, whatever adhesive I used in 2004 failed miserably! I spent a good hour repairing pages with loose elements. So sad! I am hoping that my current adhesive holds up much better! Here is what it looked like when I pulled them all onto my dining room table:
The end result is the photo at the top of the post. I need to create a few more tags and actually need to get another black and red album to get things organized as I would like them to be. In sorting the layouts, I really started to see the patterns in what I scrapbook and what I really want/need to scrapbook in the future. I gave up chronological scrapbooking a few years ago, but I was never deliberate about what pages I did create. It was just whatever was closest to me. Now with this system, I can find my photos and really create pages that I want to create. I can create with intention. It is almost as if my love of the art has been reborn with this system. So that may be a little melodramatic...

I also did some cleaning in my studio before starting all of this. The side where I actually create is a MESS right now, but the rest of the room is in much better shape. These are the shelves in my "reading corner" The albums here are the chronological storage binders where all of my unscrapped photos are. I still have a few more years worth that need to get into binders. Right now they are in the triage area:The basket holds all of my memorabilia that needs to be filed as well. It is all starting to fall into place!

Here is the TV and table I have in the room when I have other people over to crop. It was our kitchen table in our last house! I would like to paint it white eventually and maybe even put on a glass top. The fan is necessary to keep the room cool. I have an OLD window air conditioner that has served me well up here! The fan just gives it a little extra help!

Here is my little reading corner. I would like to create a slip cover for the chair this week. We'll see how adventurous I feel. Sewing is really not one of my talents. :-) I leave that to my mom and sister!

I will probably spend most of tomorrow trying to get the other side of my space cleaned up. I really want to scrapbook now that I have most everything organized. I just need to have a clean space to do it in!

Thansgiving Eve

Once again the holidays are upon us. Where did 2007 go? It has been a tough fall... probably the toughest one I have ever had. So much loss and pain this fall. I am so happy to see the start of the holiday season- a time of joy and happiness I hope!

Things at school are looking up. My student teacher from the fall was hired on Friday to take over the 7th grade position. That is a huge relief to me. Those students need someone who will give them 110% and I know she is the right person. She has so much energy and passion for teaching. I am really excited to be working with her as a coworker now! I am trying to get my classroom in order as well over the coming weeks. I brought lots of work home. We'll see how much of it I get done.

Chris and I are planning to run in my first 5k tomorrow. YIKES! I am really not ready, so I think there will be some walking mixed in. I am looking forward to it, though. Hopefully the SNOW will stay away! Although I would rather run in snow than rain!

The bathroom remodel is coming along. The paint is up and the new tub is in. Chris is working on the floor today. I am hoping it will be all done in the next two weeks. It's just hard in an older house... nothing is as easy as it seems! LOL.

Working on getting my studio finally finished. It's been more than a year in the making. I just need to get a "place" for everything that needs to stay in here and find a home for things that don't. I am hoping to have some friends over to play so I want to get it all done!

With that... I better get back to work!

Making Progress

Here is where we are at...

I wouldn't let Chris do much earlier this week... I wanted to make sure he didn't push it after running 26.2 miles on Sunday! :-) He worked on it most of the day on Wednesday and Thursday morning. He came home last night and did some more. The desk is in place... it isn't secured down just yet, but that is the plan for tonight. I was hoping to be all moved in before the end of the week.. but I don't want to rush it. I really want to have things organized BEFORE they go up into the pretty new space.

With that in mind, I really should return to cleaning my current scrapbook room. It's amazing what you find when you clean!

Making Progress in my Studio!

It is hard to beleive that this is even the same room! Chris has been working hard to get the painting done. The color is very calming and the lighting is perfect. In the morning, I just go in there and turn on the light. I can't beleive that I will soon have my very own studio! The floor is done and we are hoping to get the built in desk done this weekend.

My current room is a MESS! I haven't scrapped in almost a month. I am hoping to get some time in there this weekend. I keep dreaming about what I am going to do in my new studio.... Chris had to tell me to go to sleep on Sunday... I was just too excited! I will have space to spread out, but I will also be able to teach classes again. My friends and co-workers are already asking when they can come! :)

Romeo wants to play too...
